What do you need to effectively run a TriZenter presentation?
Computer or laptop? The choice between a computer and a laptop depends on your application. If you travel at all or move frequently between training rooms, you may prefer a laptop. However, not all laptops are compatible with the TriZenter Presentation System. In addition to the laptop, you will need the projectors, the software and our Datapath Box. (The Datapath connects to the VGA output of any laptop and enables TriZenter to send the signal to the three output devices. No driver installation is necessary when using the Datapath.) We have configured a complete laptop system, including projectors, that can be carried in a slightly larger-than-normal laptop case and that fits into the overhead compartment of most airplanes.
If you’re looking to set up a permanent system in one room, you may prefer a full computer system. If you present in multiple training rooms in one building, there are smaller, more portable computer systems available on the market that would be relatively easy to move and a laptop is always a possibility in any setting.
System Recommened Requirements
- PentiumÒ 4 processor (1.7GHz Minimum)
- 512 MB RAM
- Windows 2000 or XP
- 100 MB free disk space
- Multi-monitor video card with 4 outputs
- MS Office with PowerPoint
Choosing a Multi-monitor Video Card There are many video cards on the market today, and most should work with TriZenter. However, we recommend the following:
For installation in a tower PC either the Colorgraphic Xentera GT4 or the Matrox G450 MMS Quad can be used. These half-sized cards will fit into most small-chassis PCs. Both cards perform well with the TriZenter system.
For the laptop option we recommend using the Datapath VQS-01. This 2x2 video wall unit has been extensively tested and works well with the TriZenter system.
Monitor or Projector? The choice between monitor and projector and the choice of size depend on where and to whom you will most often be presenting. While 12' screens might captivate your audience at a seminar, you aren't likely to use them in the conference room to train a dozen people. The most important consideration is to fill the visual space in front of your audience. If the audience would have to look around the room to see your presentation, consider smaller screens. In the office with a small group of people, three monitors set on the table in front of them may be all you need. In a conference room or small training room, small projectors might work best. We’ve seen clients use all sizes and types of screens, from 17" flat-screen monitors to 14' screens.
Choosing the right TriZenter software. The TriZenter Software is available in three versions: Standard, Professional and Professional Plus. Whether you need to show a presentation that’s been custom designed for you, or you want the power to design, create and modify your own presentations, there’s a TriZenter software that will meet your needs.
